MCS - 29.2

When had he ever seen such a colossal wild boar? In the past, the news always warned that wild boars were extremely dangerous and ordinary people should flee immediately upon encountering one. And now, such a massive beast was right in front of him, right in front of Brother...

Li Yuezhou was burning with anxiety. If Lu Zhaoye still had his sword, there might be a chance of winning, but bare-handed? How could he possibly defeat this giant wild boar?

The wild boar pawed at the ground impatiently, its eyes fixed on Lu Zhaoye with bloodthirsty craving. Letting out a low roar, it suddenly lowered its head and lunged at him, bearing its fangs. It moved with terrifying speed and powerful momentum, as if intent on smashing everything in its path.

Lu Zhaoye's eyes turned cold as he swiftly dodged the boar's charge sideways with clean, decisive movements. The wild boar missed and crashed directly into the thick tree trunk behind him. With a deafening bang, the trunk shook violently, leaves showered down, and a large crater was left in both the tree and the ground.

The wild boar shook its head, seemingly dizzy from the impact, but quickly regained its ferocious demeanor, turning around and charging at Lu Zhaoye once more.

With no weapon in hand, Lu Zhaoye could only rely on the tree trunks to awkwardly evade, taking the opportunity to lure the beast further away from Li Yuezhou.

Though ferocious, the wild boar lacked agility. Lu Zhaoye, despite being unarmed, still possessed his internal energy. With a light tap of his toes, he flew up onto a tree branch.

However, every dodge worsened the agonizing pain from his wounds. After a few rounds, cold sweat soaked his hair and rolled down his cheeks, but he could only grit his teeth and endure it, not daring to let his guard down.

Li Yuezhou didn't dare make a sound. Covering his mouth, he watched the thrilling scene unfold. Seeing Lu Zhaoye and the wild boar moving further away, he understood in his heart that his brother was trying to give him a chance to survive.

Tears welled up in his eyes again. He carefully parted the vines, still able to smell that foul stench, and heard bursts of loud crashes echoing from not too far away.

He took a few deep breaths, wondering what they should do now. Brother was heavily injured. If this dragged on, who knew how long he could last?

But he didn't dare go over there yet. He couldn't let Brother's efforts go to waste. He could only pray silently in his heart, hoping that Brother would succeed, that the wild boar wouldn't hurt him, hoping... that they could both leave safely.

Lu Zhaoye leaped down, picked up a sturdy branch, and weighed it in his hand. Seeing the wild boar charging at him again, this time he didn't dodge, but met it head-on,

With a sickening squelch, the wild boar let out an agonized shriek. Blood poured from its eye, the blinding pain making its movements even more violent and feral.

Lu Zhaoye pressed his advantage and ruthlessly pierced its other eye as well.

Having lost its sight, the wild boar rampaged madly in all directions. Lu Zhaoye leaped onto a large tree, panting heavily, buying himself some time before taking Li Yuezhou away from there.

The wild boar's behavior grew increasingly frantic. The agony made it brutal; the surrounding trees and plants were trampled into a chaotic, devastated mess.

After resting for a moment, Lu Zhaoye leaped from that tree to another, finally landing outside the vines where Li Yuezhou was hiding.

Seeing him return, Li Yuezhou hurriedly pushed aside the vines and asked anxiously, "Brother! Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. I blinded both of the wild boar's eyes. Let's find another path and leave quickly while we can!"

He grabbed Li Yuezhou's hand, and just as the two were about to change directions and flee the area, a piercing eagle cry echoed through the air. The sound was so shrill and deafening it nearly ruptured their eardrums.

Lu Zhaoye was alarmed. They had just escaped the boar's maw; they couldn't afford to fall into an eagle's beak.

Li Yuezhou was also terrified, his hands trembling as he clung to Lu Zhaoye.

They looked up to see a massive eagle diving down from the clouds. Its spread wings were large enough to blot out the sky, and its dark brown feathers cast a shadow over this section of the dense forest like a dark storm cloud.

Its eyes were razor-sharp, its talons as keen as steel hooks, but it wasn't heading toward them. Instead, it dove straight for the rampaging wild boar.

Li Yuezhou felt a stir in his heart. An inexplicable force seemed to push him, urging him toward the conflict.

"Brother... that giant eagle doesn't seem to be coming for us."

His voice was a mere whisper, afraid of disturbing the lethal battle nearby.

Lu Zhaoye nodded. "Right, it should be going for that wild boar. Let's hurry and leave now."

He pulled Li Yuezhou, but the boy didn't budge. Lu Zhaoye looked at him in surprise.

"Brother... should we wait a bit?"

"What's wrong?" Lu Zhaoye was puzzled. What was there to wait for at a time like this? After the giant eagle killed the wild boar, it might come after the two of them.

Li Yuezhou hesitated for a long while. He thought of the bizarre dream he had told Lu Zhaoye about, the one Lu Zhaoye had actually believed. Could this also be...

"I... I just have a feeling that the giant eagle won't do anything to us... Brother, let's stay for a bit, okay?"

He didn't explain it very clearly. Lu Zhaoye frowned at him, but after a moment, he relented. "Alright, but we can't get too close. I'll take you up into a tree."

Li Yuezhou felt a sudden tightness around his waist as his feet left the ground. In the blink of an eye, they were perched high on the branch of a towering tree.

Standing on the branch, Li Yuezhou felt a bit afraid, not of heights, but of the lack of grounded security. Fortunately, Lu Zhaoye held him tightly the entire time, which put his mind at ease.

He wrinkled his nose and caught a whiff of blood. It wasn't the foul stench of the wild boar, and the scent was coming from very close.

"Brother, did your wounds tear open?"

Li Yuezhou was terribly worried. His dark eyes turned to look at Lu Zhaoye, his concern practically overflowing.

Lu Zhaoye paused under his worried gaze, quietly shifting his sight away. "Probably. It's not a big deal, I'll treat it later."

How could it not be a big deal? Li Yuezhou clearly remembered that Lu Zhaoye had numerous injuries. They had definitely burst open during his intense struggle with the wild boar just now. His heart was instantly thrown into turmoil.

However, given their current precarious situation, he really couldn't forcefully demand Lu Zhaoye to change his bandages.

Shifting his gaze downwards, his worry was instantly replaced by astonishment. The giant eagle was apparently here specifically for the wild boar. The beast, blinded by Lu Zhaoye, was thrashing around like a headless fly. The giant eagle wasn't in a rush; hooking its sharp talons onto a high branch, it stared coldly at its prey.

Li Yuezhou carefully observed the giant bird. It seemed to have absolutely no interest in the two of them, not even casting a spare glance their way.

But he noticed that beneath the eagle's folded wings hung what seemed to be dried blood, and its feathers were slightly disheveled. It looked like it had been injured beforehand.

He gently tugged at Lu Zhaoye's sleeve and asked in a low voice, "Brother, is that giant eagle injured?"

Lu Zhaoye nodded silently; he had noticed it too. If this giant eagle had faced an uninjured wild boar, it might not have won. But he had just blinded it.

This giant eagle had either been circling behind waiting for an opportunity, or had pursued it all the way and serendipitously benefited. Either way, he understood one thing clearly: the giant eagle would definitely kill this wild boar today.

Although the wild boar was fierce, its blind rampage resulted in many new wounds across its body from crashing into the environment. The pain drove it madder, but only earned it more injuries.

After a long time, the wild boar seemed to finally lose its strength. It shook its massive head, panting heavily, seemingly giving up.

Just as it was about to turn and stumble away, the giant eagle made its move.

With a high-pitched cry, it spread its wings and attacked from behind. Its sharp beak struck viciously at the boar's thick-skinned back, forcibly tearing open a deep gash.
