Chapter 31 - Argument
Love at first sight wasn't the problem, but the timing was far too off.

Ji Linxue shook his head, pushing away the deranged thoughts, and couldn't help but say, "She's only 16, not yet an adult."
Gu Hengzhi glanced at him, scoffing, "Underage?"
What did he mean by telling him she was underage? Did he mean that when this girl grew up, he would start making his move?
He had been somewhat confused at first, but now he had confirmed his feelings. What he wanted, he would definitely obtain.
What man or woman, gender was simply not worth mentioning to him. If he had to watch Ji Linxue with someone else, it would truly be the death of him.
Gu Hengzhi's tone was hard, "Delete her WeChat right now."
He knew Ji Linxue responded better to soft approaches than hard ones. If he had coaxed him gently, he might have agreed, but he was incredibly angry right now. With anger clouding his head, all reason was lost.
"What did you say?"
Ji Linxue thought he had misheard. In the past few years, Gu Hengzhi had not spoken to him in that tone.

Though he thought this, the opposite answer blurted out from his mouth, "I won't delete it."
Ji Linxue stared straight at him, his expression indifferent.
"You clearly promised me that you wouldn't add just anyone in the future," Gu Hengzhi conceded a step, "I don't care about others, but not her."
He saw Ji Linxue's different attitude towards that girl. He couldn't always be by Ji Linxue's side. What if someone took advantage of the situation?
Ji Linxue avoided his gaze, hardening his heart, "She's my sister, not just anyone."
The corners of Gu Hengzhi's eyes were a little red, and his eyes flickered, looking wronged.
The conversation ended with both of them upset. When they returned to the private room, the other classmates noticed that something was wrong. The two, who were originally inseparable, were now sitting at opposite ends of the private room.
No one dared to come over and ask what happened, but the girls who came for the mixer all felt an opportunity had arisen and approached their targets.
A girl quickly sat down next to Ji Linxue, her hair dark and flowing, looking pretty and delicate, "Hello, I'm from the Department of Fine Arts..."
Ji Linxue had no mind to listen to what she was saying. His gaze was unfocused as he recalled the argument they just had and was already starting to regret it.

After the mixer ended, everyone got into the car for the ride back.

They soon arrived at the apartment building where they lived. The two entered the elevator one after the other, neither saying a word, the atmosphere silent.

He clicked it open and saw a message from Bai Chutang.
[CottonCandyisYummy : Linxue Ge, I'm off work! I forgot to ask, C City is so far from A City, why did you suddenly come here?]
Ji Linxue thought for a moment and typed.
[x : I'm going to university here. You should be in your first year of high school now, right? Do you still have time for part-time jobs?]
Bai Chutang's reply came quickly.
[CottonCandyisYummy : I have no choice. Grandma is sick and can't work, and Chuyu still has to go to school. The allowance isn't enough at all. I can only go out and earn some money. Fortunately, the teachers here are all very nice. They know my family situation and didn't say anything.]
He chatted all the way in the car, and Gu Hengzhi, who was beside him, watched the whole time.

Gu Hengzhi, "..." What could he do? Ji Linxue didn't wait for him at all. He got into the elevator and closed the door. He could only wait for the next elevator.
Thinking of this, he felt even more wronged.
"A senior from my department pulled me along," Ji Linxue said indifferently. "you need something?"
"Can't I come back if there's nothing?" Shen Shaoyan felt guilty because of what he said. Su Muqing kept urging him. She didn't even consider how difficult it was to get these two busy people together.
