RMHU - Chapter 50

"Wait a moment." Gu Huaizhi held the phone in one hand and lowered his head to ask Shen Mianyin, "Can I use your study room?"

"Sure, go ahead," Shen Mianyin nodded.

The layout of Shen Mianyin's house was the same as his. After Gu Huaizhi pushed open Shen Mianyin's study and went in, he said, "Contact Lin Yunan for me."

"Understood," Zhou Jingqi paused. "Right now?"

"Um,"

Before Zhou Jingqi hung up the phone, he couldn't help but be curious and asked, "President, are you at Director Shen's house now?"

Gu Huaizhi: "Hmm?"

"I heard it just now—you asked Director Shen if you could use her study," Zhou Jingqi thought to himself, Wasn’t that a deliberate move to let me overhear?

"Yes," Gu Huaizhi’s lips curved into a faint smile. "Go contact him. I’ll wait for his call."

"Yes,"

Since Gu Huaizhi had personally asked, Lin Yunan didn’t dare delay and quickly called back.

Not long after Zhou Jingqi ended the call, less than ten minutes later, Gu Huaizhi received Lin Yunan’s call.

When Gu Huaizhi walked out of the study, Shen Mianyin was still on the balcony. She eagerly waved at him. “Gu Huaizhi, come quick! The property staff just arrived. If you come now, you can still see it happening.”

On the other end of the call, Lin Yunan was startled. Why was there a woman’s voice in the background where Gu Huaizhi was?

*Could it be Shen Mianyin?!*

Through the phone, the voice wasn’t entirely clear, so Lin Yunan couldn’t be sure.

But considering Gu Huaizhi had sought him out personally over a matter involving Shen Mianyin, it wasn’t hard to make the connection.

Even for his own family, Gu Huaizhi had never shown this much concern—yet now he was personally stepping in to demand an explanation for Shen Mianyin.

Lin Yunan cleared his throat awkwardly and cautiously probed, "President Gu, are you… with Director Shen right now?"

“Mm,” Gu Huaizhi admitted without hesitation. “I’ll hang up now.”

As he ended the call, he walked over to Shen Mianyin, stopping behind her and placing one hand on the balcony railing.

“He argued with the property staff for quite a while, which is why it took some time,” Shen Mianyin said. “Probably because of his status, they didn’t dare to be too forceful. But they still managed to get him out. Look, right over there.”

Shen Mianyin pointed to a spot a little past the building across the street, signaling for Gu Huaizhi to take a look.

Gu Huaizhi indeed spotted Gu Luo’an’s figure.

As Shen Mianyin pointed, she instinctively turned her head back, only to realize that, without noticing, she had stepped right into Gu Huaizhi’s embrace.

When she looked up, his chin was so close, almost within reach.

She even noticed the faint stubble newly grown on his chin.

When Gu Huaizhi saw her turn back, he followed suit and lowered his head, his face unexpectedly enlarging in front of her.

Shen Mianyin’s heart skipped a beat, and she instinctively held her breath, feeling her face grow hot and her heart pounding as if it might jump out of her chest.

Gu Huaizhi’s face was so close that there wasn’t a single flaw to be found. In fact, upon closer inspection, he seemed even more strikingly handsome.

How could a man be this good-looking?

Their faces were so close that Shen Mianyin could feel his breath on the tip of her nose and the corners of her lips.

Shen Mianyin swallowed nervously and sucked her lower lip subconsciously.

Gu Huaizhi's eyes dimmed slightly, fell on her face, and then reluctantly looked away.

Buzz—buzz—

Shen Mianyin's cell phone vibrated in her hand, suddenly bringing her back to her senses.

Shen Mianyin blushed and lowered her head, subconsciously raising her hand to tuck her hair that was blown by the wind behind her ears to hide her confusion.

She answered the phone with a red face: "Reporter Tang."

As soon as she got home, she immediately contacted reporter Tang.

However, reporter Tang was busy at the time and couldn't talk for too long, so he said he would call her back when he was done.

"Yes, I have it here." Shen Mianyin said, "Also, the Su family's biological daughter is in the video."

Gu Huaizhi raised his eyebrows slightly and immediately knew what video Shen Mianyin was referring to.

"This can indeed help me clear up the rumors on the internet," Shen Mianyin said. "But I’m sure Reporter Tang didn’t just do this for free. I’m guessing he’s already seen the video."

After letting the other person finish, Shen Mianyin smiled and continued, "The Su family has recognized their biological daughter, and as the so-called fake daughter of the Su family in the public’s eyes, there must be considerable news value here."

"Since the news about the real and fake daughters of the Su family broke out, the Su family has frequently brought Su Yiqing in public events to generate topics. But as one of the parties involved, I haven’t made any public appearances," Shen Mianyin said. "Releasing this video should be quite effective."

"Indeed." Reporter Tang said, "Speaking of which, the release of this video will only serve to clarify things for Ms. Shen, but it will benefit me more."

"It's good that it can be clarified." Shen Mianyin knew what reporter Tang meant, "I also want to thank reporter Tang for his help."

Thanks to her previous experience as the general manager of Su's, she had a lot of dealings with the media and got to know many reporters.

Reporter Tang has the best reputation among them.

That's why she contacted reporter Tang first.

"Ms. Shen's words make me feel even more embarrassed," said reporter Tang.

"I first thought of reporter Tang because we have worked together many times before and I have great confidence in your professional ability." Shen Mianyin said, "Reporter Tang has excellent professional ability and strong adaptability. I believe you will definitely be able to maximize the traffic of this video."

"And I believe we’ll have plenty of opportunities to work together in the future," Shen Mianyin said. "I’ll be counting on Reporter Tang’s support going forward."

Reporter Tang sighed in relief and said, "In that case, I won’t hold back. I’m counting on you to give me some big stories, Director Shen."

After hanging up the phone, seeing Gu Huaizhi looking over, Shen Mianyin explained: "The video of me being harassed by the fat guy at Yunjing Restaurant last night was filmed by Su Yiqing and posted online. Now it's causing quite a stir. Everyone is saying that I'm selling myself out in exchange for business orders."

"The surveillance video you gave me was a great help. I just sent it to the reporter." Shen Mianyin said.

The next day, not long after Shen Mianyin entered the office, Lin Jinshen came by.

"Last night was too late, so it wasn’t convenient for me to come find you," Lin Jinshen explained as he entered the office. "How are you doing?"

"I’m really fine," Shen Mianyin smiled as she spoke. "I’m not that fragile. Besides, in business, I’ve seen all kinds of people—this little incident doesn’t bother me."

"I'm sorry for asking you to come to the company, but letting you suffer such a great injustice." Lin Jinshen frowned and his expression turned cold.

When he thought of Zhou Jicai and Zhang Qiyuan, he couldn't help but get angry.

"If I hadn’t come, I wouldn’t have known that the son of the mighty Lin family would have to take so much trouble in his own company."

Hearing this, Lin Jinshen smiled and sat down across from Shen Mianyin at her desk. "I guess I’ll have to rely on Director Shen more in the future—no, General Manager Shen. I’ll need your support a lot."

"General Manager?" Shen Mianyin was surprised. "You…?"

"I came here to tell you that I'm going to a meeting later." Lin Jinshen looked at Shen Mianyin with a smile, "If nothing unexpected happens, Zhou Jicai can be fired after the meeting. It's just that Zhang Qiyuan can't be touched yet. But as long as Zhou Jicai is fired, Zhang Qiyuan will lose his support, and it will be difficult for him to stir up any trouble in the future. Sooner or later, We’ll find a way to deal with him eventually."

Lin Jinshen glanced at his watch. "Shen Manager, let’s go to the conference room and see what’s going on."

Shen Mianyin followed Lin Jinshen to the conference room where everyone was already present—everyone except Zhang Qiyuan and Zhou Jicai.

Lin Jinshen sat down and waited for about ten minutes before the two men walked in with smug looks on their faces.
