RMHU - Chapter 41

“Huh?” Shen Mianyin was stunned, unable to react immediately.

“You can drive, right?” Gu Huaizhi asked again.

“I can,” Shen Mianyin nodded.

At that moment, the restaurant staff brought Gu Huaizhi’s car around.

“Let’s go,” Gu Huaizhi said.

“Oh, okay.” Completely swept along by Gu Huaizhi’s pace, Shen Mianyin felt dazed as she instinctively got into his car.

Zhou Jingqi thoughtfully opened the car door for Gu Huaizhi, helped him get in, and, after closing the door, didn’t forget to say, “Take care, President, Director Shen.”

Zheng Siyu and Fang Xiaoyue stood nearby, utterly dumbfounded.

“What… what’s going on here?” Fang Xiaoyue turned to Zheng Siyu, asking, “Why would Third Master Gu have Shen Mianyin drive him home?”

“I have no idea,” Zheng Siyu replied, looking equally confused. “Are they close or something?”

The two saw Zhou Jingqi returning after sending Gu Huaizhi off and preparing to call a car. They quickly asked, “Assistant Zhou, what’s the relationship between Third Master Gu and Shen Mianyin?”

Zhou Jingqi didn’t give them a direct answer. After booking his ride, he looked up and said with a meaningful smile, “Why don’t you guess?”

Zheng Siyu: “…”

Fang Xiaoyue: “…”

They were asking because they couldn’t guess!

But Zhou Jingqi ignored them entirely and instead turned to Gao Zhoulei. “Assistant Gao, how are you getting home?”

“I’ve already called a car,” Gao Zhoulei replied, feeling much more cheerful after seeing the two women left speechless.

Meanwhile, in Gu Luo’an’s car, Su Yiqing looked at him pitifully and said, “Brother Luo’an, can I… can I go to your place tonight? I’m afraid to go home. I don’t want my parents to notice anything.”

“I… I’ve only just been reunited with my family, and now this happens. Mom and Dad will definitely think I’m not behaving well,” Su Yiqing said softly, her head lowered, looking both dejected and uneasy. “I’m afraid they won’t like me.”

“They won’t think that, and besides, this wasn’t your fault,” Gu Luo’an said patiently, trying to reassure her.

However, Su Yiqing’s repeated self-pity was starting to wear on Gu Luo’an, leaving him a bit irritated.

“Brother Luo’an, just let me stay at your place for one night,” Su Yiqing pleaded. “I’ll tell them I’m staying over at a friend’s house. Tomorrow, I’ll get myself together before going home so they won’t suspect anything.”

She clung to Gu Luo’an’s arm, acting coy. “Brother Luo’an, please, you’re the only one who can help me.”

“Alright,” Gu Luo’an finally agreed with a nod.

“Thank you, Brother Luo’an,” Su Yiqing said gratefully.

When they arrived at Gu Luo’an’s home, he, living alone, had Aunt Hu prepare the guest room for Su Yiqing.

“Brother Luo’an, I want to take a shower,” Su Yiqing said softly. “But… I didn’t bring any pajamas. Could I borrow yours?”

Gu Luo’an nodded and said, “Aunt Hu, please bring a set of my pajamas for Miss Su.”

Aunt Hu couldn’t help but think, What a little enchantress this is.

As soon as she walked in and asked to wear a man’s pajamas, wasn’t it obvious that Su Yiqing was trying to seduce Gu Luo’an?

Aunt Hu brought out a set of Gu Luo’an’s pajamas and handed them to Su Yiqing, who sweetly thanked her before heading off to shower with the pajamas in her arms.

Meanwhile, Gu Luo’an returned to his own room and called Shen Mianyin.

Shen Mianyin was still driving. There had been a traffic accident on the road back to Lijing Garden, causing a long delay. As a result, she was still on her way home.

Her phone suddenly rang. Gu Huaizhi glanced at the screen, saw the caller ID, and narrowed his eyes slightly before saying, “It’s a call from Gu Luo’an.”

“No need to answer. Hang up for me,” Shen Mianyin replied.

Gu Huaizhi’s lips curved upward ever so slightly as he picked up her phone and ended the call. He couldn’t help but ask, “You’re not even answering his calls anymore?”

“Mm.” Shen Mianyin nodded. “I don’t want to have any more contact with him.”

“Then why not just block his number?” Gu Huaizhi suggested casually, his tone unhurried. “It’ll save you from being bothered by him again.”

“I hadn’t thought of that before,” Shen Mianyin admitted. She had genuinely forgotten.

Since her rebirth, one thing after another had been piling up. Every day was so busy that she hadn’t had the time—or the mind—to deal with anything related to Gu Luo’an.

“Should I block him for you?” Gu Huaizhi said from the side.

Shen Mianyin was focused on driving, so she didn’t see it.

If only she could take a moment to glance, she would see that Gu Huaizhi’s usually cold and detached face looked like that of a scheming official at this moment.

“Sure,” Shen Mianyin said without hesitation, “Go ahead and do it for me. It’ll be easier for me to remember when I get back.”

Gu Huaizhi felt a sense of relief from Shen Mianyin’s words. He tapped the screen and asked her, “Do you need the password?”

“091028,” Shen Mianyin replied.

“09” was her birth month.

“1028” marked the day she was reborn and left the Su family.

Gu Huaizhi was a bit surprised. “You’re giving me the password just like that?”

“You don’t really have anything to gain by taking my phone,” Shen Mianyin said with a smile. “As the esteemed third master of the Gu family, what could you possibly want from me?”

“And it’s just a screen lock password,” she added.

A glimmer of something crossed Gu Huaizhi’s eyes—he really did covet her as a person.

After unlocking the phone with the password, Gu Huaizhi proceeded to block Gu Luo’an’s number.

Gu Luo’an hadn’t expected Shen Mianyin to cut off his call like that, not even answering the connection.

He called again, but this time there was no response from the phone at all.

He had been blocked.

Gu Luo’an tightly clenched his phone, gritting his teeth as he left the room. “Hu Sao!”

“Sir?” Hu Sao was already ready for bed when she heard Gu Luo’an’s call, so she had to come back over.

“Give me your phone for a moment,” Gu Luo’an held his hand out toward Hu Sao.

Hu Sao unlocked her phone and handed it to Gu Luo’an.

Using Hu Sao’s phone, Gu Luo’an called Shen Mianyin again.

Shen Mianyin’s phone was still in Gu Huaizhi’s hands, and as the phone rang, a cold smile curled on Gu Luo’an’s lips.

It seemed that Gu Luo’an had used a different number to call in again.

Gu Huaizhi looked harmless as he told Shen Mianyin, “It’s an unfamiliar number.”

“Probably a telemarketer or something—just hang up,” Shen Mianyin replied, not even having the space to spare and never having the habit of talking on the phone while driving.

“Would you mind if I answered it for you?” Gu Huaizhi sounded completely straightforward, as if he had no ulterior motives. “What if it’s a client’s call?”

Shen Mianyin thought about it and nodded. “That’s true—it might be a new client. Thank you for the help.”

If it really was a client, I wonder how they’d react if they knew it was Gu Huaizhi answering the phone.

Shen Mianyin couldn’t help but smile a little.

“Hello,” Gu Huaizhi answered the phone, his tone calm and neutral.

Gu Luo’an hesitated, hearing the familiar voice. For a moment, he felt it was a bit recognizable, but with just one word, he couldn’t quite place it clearly.

He furrowed his brow in frustration.

Why was a man answering Shen Mianyin’s phone?

Gu Luo’an questioned coldly, “Who are you?”

“Gu Huaizhi,” Gu Huaizhi replied calmly.
