"Didn’t you say before that Shen Mianyin was underappreciated at Su Group?" Lin Wanran asked.
"Yeah, I did. I also said that if she weren't from the Su family, I would have hired her in a heartbeat," Lin Jinshen replied. It seemed like he might have guessed Shen Mianyin was nearby, as he was especially cooperative.
Lin Wanran glanced at Shen Mianyin with a "see?" look, then turned off the speaker and whispered to her, "Can I tell my brother about your situation?"
"Go ahead, it’ll be all over tomorrow anyway," Shen Mianyin said.
Lin Wanran turned the speaker back on and explained Shen Mianyin's situation: "So, she really isn't part of the Su family anymore. She's planning to resign from Su Group tomorrow."
"I’m just looking out for you, letting you know. If you want to recruit her, you’d better move fast."
There was a brief silence on the other end of the phone. Shen Mianyin thought he was going to refuse, but instead, she heard him say, "Miss Shen, are you there?"
"I’m here," Shen Mianyin replied.
"I sincerely invite you to join my company," Lin Jinshen said. "It's not because of Wanran, but because I truly admire your abilities. What I said earlier was sincere."
"However, the position of general manager is already filled. I can't just dismiss someone," Lin Jinshen continued. "But, the position of sales director is still available. I wonder if Miss Shen would be interested?"
Shen Mianyin knew that if she missed this opportunity, it might never come again.
Even though it was through Lin Wanran's connection, Shen Mianyin wasn't going to be overly modest and turn down the offer.
"I'm very happy to join your company, Mr. Lin," Shen Mianyin quickly replied. "The sales director position is already great. Thank you so much."
"You're going to Su Group to resign tomorrow?" Lin Jinshen asked.
"Yes, I’ll go first thing tomorrow."
"I understand," Lin Jinshen said before hanging up.
Lin Wanran, looking confused, asked, "What does he understand?"
Shen Mianyin wasn’t sure either: "Does he know I’m resigning?"
"Never mind him, he's always being mysterious," Lin Wanran said as she drove Shen Mianyin back home.
"Here, there are two spare bedrooms. Pick whichever you like, stay as long as you need, don’t feel rushed to move. I mean it," Lin Wanran offered.
"Okay," Shen Mianyin replied, though she knew she’d likely move out sooner rather than later.
The next day, Shen Mianyin arrived at Su Group right on time, just before office hours.
As she expected, the news had spread overnight.
From the moment she entered the company building, she was met with countless curious and strange gazes.
As she passed through the large office area, she overheard some employees talking: "Did you hear? It turns out Su Mian... no, it should be Shen Mianyin, was the child that was switched at birth by the Su family."
"Today, the president brought the real Su family's eldest daughter to the company. They say it's to introduce her to the company’s executives as Su family’s true heir."
Seeing Shen Mianyin enter, her colleagues quickly quieted down.
She smiled slightly, understanding now why the news had spread so quickly—apparently, Su Father had been eager to bring Su Yiqing to meet everyone.
Shen Mianyin entered the general manager's office, opened her computer, and sent the resignation letter she had prepared earlier via email.
Outside the office, her colleagues resumed their conversation.
The conversation outside continued as the colleagues discussed Shen Mianyin's presence in the office.
"Didn't expect Shen Mianyin to come today. She's really got nerves, after such a big incident, and she still shows up at work."
"Yeah, if it were me, I wouldn't have the face to come back. I bet her position as the general manager is gone."
"Of course, with Su Father bringing his real daughter to the company, it’s clear they're not going to leave any space for Shen Mianyin."
"Do you think it's worth it for her to stay in the general manager's position? I’m sure she’ll be kicked out soon."
Shen Mianyin heard the whispers but didn’t let it affect her. She focused on finishing up her work, confident in her decision.
"If it were me, I would have resigned on my own a long time ago."
Just as they were talking, a new email suddenly popped up in the company's internal inbox.
Everyone looked at it and, to their surprise, it was Shen Mianyin's resignation letter!
The report had just been sent out when Shen Mianyin was packing her things and received a call from Mr. Su.
"Come to my office!" Mr. Su said on the phone, sounding frantic.
With a calm expression, Shen Mianyin walked into Mr. Su’s office under the watchful eyes of her colleagues.
She knocked on the door, and upon hearing Mr. Su’s voice say, "Come in," she pushed the door open and saw that Su Yiqing was also inside.
As Shen Mianyin entered and was about to close the door, Mr. Su angrily slammed his hand on the desk and said, "Shen Mianyin, what is this all about? Today, I brought Yiqing to the company to meet everyone, and you immediately send out your resignation letter to the entire company."
"Isn’t it enough that you’ve taken Yiqing's position? Now you want to steal her spotlight as well?" Mr. Su scolded.
Shen Mianyin raised an eyebrow, her anger turning into a laugh at Mr. Su's words. "I didn't know you were bringing her here today. Besides, my resignation has nothing to do with you bringing her."
"Also, I've already sorted out all the work on my desk and handed it over to my assistant. The new general manager can directly ask my assistant for anything, so there’s no need for me to stay and do any handover work," Shen Mianyin said mockingly. "Anyway, I don’t want to stay, and you don’t want to see me. Let’s just avoid each other."
"I don't agree with your resignation!" Mr. Su snapped angrily. "Even if you want to resign, you can't do it right now. By resigning like this, aren't you clearly saying that the Su family forced you to leave?"
"You clearly took Yiqing's position in the Su family and deceived us for years, and now it seems like we're the ones forcing you out," Mr. Su said, dissatisfied.
Shen Mianyin was so angry it almost made her laugh. She scoffed and said, "I was mistakenly taken into your family when I was an infant. Was that my fault? What do you mean by saying I deceived you for years?"
"If we're talking about deceit, it’s more accurate to say that you insisted on keeping me yesterday with ill intentions. Do you think I don't know what you're planning?" Shen Mianyin said coldly.
Mr. Su's face changed. "What did you say?"
What had she found out?
"I’m resigning, not to ask for your approval, but to inform the company that I’m done," Shen Mianyin said coldly.
Since being reborn, she had already given up any expectations of the Su family.
Su Yiqing, standing to the side, spoke softly, "Sister, Dad didn’t mean it that way. He just said things in a fit of anger. Actually, Mom and Dad are reluctant to let you go. Please don’t resign, stay at the company. Once you're no longer upset, come back home, okay?"
"Besides, if you resign now, what else can you do? The whole industry knows about your situation now. Your position is awkward, and you’ve been a general manager—surely you can’t lower yourself to be an ordinary employee," Su Yiqing said, looking as if she were considering Shen Mianyin’s best interests.
"And even as an ordinary employee, because of your connection with the Su family, I’m afraid no company will hire you."
"If you go out and can’t find a job, why not stay at the company? Sister, I wouldn’t mind, and Dad wouldn’t either."
"Yiqing is so kind! She even calls you sister!" Mr. Su was deeply moved by Su Yiqing’s words, his heart softening. "Look at you—ungrateful and unappreciative!"
