Shen Mianyin played the stored video from the door's surveillance system for the police.
"Officer, look, this is how he acted outside my door just now," she said.
Crying as she spoke, she added, "I would never reconcile with someone like that."
Seeing the video evidence and realizing Shen Mianyin was unwilling to mediate, the police turned to Gu Luo'an and said, "You'll need to come with us."
Then, addressing Shen Mianyin, the officer said, "Miss, you'll also need to come with us. However, your foot injury..."
Shen Mianyin gritted her teeth and said, "It's my duty to cooperate with you. If I have to crawl, I’ll crawl over."
"That won't be necessary," the officer replied with a slight shake of his head and a smile.
He gestured for a colleague to help support Shen Mianyin while he led Gu Luo'an ahead.
Shen Mianyin, still fearful, shrank behind the officer.
Life is like a play, it all depends on your acting skills.
The police reassured Shen Mianyin, "Don’t be afraid, we’re here. He wouldn’t dare do anything."
Seeing how frightened she was, they thought, no wonder she’s so adamant about breaking up and refusing to reconcile.
At the station, Shen Mianyin gave her statement but remained firm in refusing mediation.
As a result, Gu Luo'an was detained, and Shen Mianyin limped out of the station on her injured leg.
Gu Luo'an's expression darkened, yet he let out a cold laugh. "Shen Mianyin, well done!"
...
At SoundLand Bar, Zhou Jingyi swirled a glass of whiskey, the ice cubes clinking softly. Reclining in a booth with one arm draped casually over the backrest, he looked across at Gu Luo'an and said,
"This is the first time I’ve ever bailed someone out of a police station. Did things really escalate this much between you and Shen Mianyin?"
Gu Luo'an drank silently, his face dark and unreadable.
“Come on, Brother Gu, Young Master Gu, is it really worth all this?” Xu Xinye scoffed. “If Shen Mianyin wants to break up, then let her!"
“Do you really think she’ll find someone better than you? She’s just a fake heiress who got kicked out of the Su family. You didn’t even mind that and stayed with her—she should be thanking you on her knees. And now she’s the one asking for the breakup, not you. Even if word gets out later, no one would have anything bad to say about you.”
"Exactly. She's no goddess or anything. Do you know how popular you are in the capital, Gu Luo'an? Just crook your finger, and heiresses from prestigious families or actresses would come running,"
Zhou Jingyi said dismissively. "If she wants to break up, let her. She’s completely ungrateful. Besides, didn’t you used to not care much about her anyway? Isn’t this breakup exactly what you wanted?"
"I always thought she was too clingy," Xu Xinye chimed in. "Whenever you were out with us, she’d constantly call you. Honestly, only you could put up with her."
"By the way, aren't you getting pretty close to that newly acknowledged daughter of the Su family?" Xu Xinye chuckled. "I have to admit, Su Yiqing’s quite lovely and obedient to you. Isn't she a good match?"
"You guys don’t understand anything!" Gu Luo'an shot back, tipping his head back to finish his whiskey before pouring himself another glass.
"Wait, Brother Gu, are you really drowning your sorrows over Shen Mianyin with alcohol? Come on, that’s not necessary," Xu Xinye said, picking up his phone and calling the bar's manager.
It wasn’t long before six stunning women, dressed in revealing yet tasteful attire and wearing light makeup, walked over and sat down beside them.
"Brother Gu, I know you prefer things to be... clean," Xu Xinye grinned. "Don't worry, the manager made sure to bring over a group that's as clean as can be. Even if they’re not virgins, they’re all handpicked for business."
"Young Master Gu," one of the women clung to Gu Luo'an’s arm, squeezing and rubbing against him. "Drinking alone is no fun. How about we play a game?"
Gu Luo'an paused, then turned to look at her, suddenly curling his lips into a smile. "Sure, but I have a rule."
"What’s that?" the woman asked, intrigued.
"Don’t touch my lips," Gu Luo'an said, taking another sip of his whiskey.

When Lin Wanran heard that Gu Luo'an had blocked Shen Mianyin outside her door, she quickly dropped her plans and rushed home after work.
As soon as I walked in, Lin Wanran grabbed Shen Mianyin and started fussing. "Why didn’t you call me? You went to the police station—why didn’t you call? I could have picked you up! With your leg like that, how did you manage to get home?"
"I didn’t walk far," Shen Mianyin quickly explained, grabbing Lin Wanran's hand and shaking it as she spoke. "I called a cab at the police station. When the car arrived, I just got in and left."
During dinner, Shen Mianyin discussed with Lin Wanran, "Wanran, I want to move out as soon as possible."
"Why? Is it uncomfortable living here with me?" Lin Wanran teased on purpose.
Shen Mianyin shook her head and replied, "When I moved in, I said it was only temporary. It’s been so long now, and I've been staying here... it’s not right."
"You’re saying this to me?" Lin Wanran smiled. "I’m all alone here anyway, so it's nice to have you around. We can even have dinner together sometimes, isn’t that great?"
Shen Mianyin pouted, clearly displeased.
Seeing Shen Mianyin shake her head, Lin Wanran asked, "I know. Are you worried that Gu Luo'an will come looking for you again?"
Shen Mianyin paused for a moment, slightly pursing her lips before she said with self-mockery, "I didn’t even know Gu Luo'an liked me this much."
She had taken the initiative to break up, but he seemed unwilling.
"Today, the neighbor's wife was already very upset," Shen Mianyin continued. "If he keeps doing this, it’s going to affect more and more neighbors, and it will also affect your normal life."
"No, in that case, you definitely can't move out," Lin Wanran said with concern.
"While you're staying with me, if Gu Luo'an comes looking for trouble, I can help. But if you live on your own, and he shows up, you'll be alone with no one to help."
Shen Mianyin felt that it wasn’t fair to bring trouble and danger to Lin Wanran.
"My foot injury still isn't healed, so I can't move out right away," Shen Mianyin smiled and said. "The agent has already found a few places for me. Once my foot is better, I'll go with him to check them out."
"Don't worry, I'll be careful. I won’t let him know where I move to," Shen Mianyin reassured her. "Trust me. Besides, we can't live together forever, can we?"
"Plus, we can still meet up for dinner after work."
Lin Wanran knew that once Shen Mianyin had made up her mind, she wouldn’t change it easily, so she reluctantly agreed and reminded her,
"Just make sure you tell me when you move. You can't just sneak away without saying anything."
"Of course," Shen Mianyin said, her eyes wide. "Do you think I’d move without telling you?"
As they were eating, the doorbell rang again. Remembering what had happened earlier in the day, both Shen Mianyin and Lin Wanran immediately tensed up.
"I'll go check," Lin Wanran said as she stood up. She opened the peephole monitor, and saw an unfamiliar person at the door. Lin Wanran then pressed the intercom button. "Who’s there?"
"Hello, I'm Mr. Gu's assistant, Zhou Jingqi," came the voice from outside.
Lin Wanran's home was quite spacious, and the entrance was a fair distance from the dining area. The sound of Zhou Jingqi’s voice, transmitted through the security monitor, had already become unclear by the time it reached the dining room.
Annoyed, Lin Wanran asked, "Gu Luo'an’s assistant?"
