"I’ll keep knocking until you open the door!" Gu Luo'an knew Shen Mianyin was inside.
He had seen Gu Huaizhi carrying her upstairs with his own eyes.
Through the peephole camera, Shen Mianyin could clearly see Gu Luo'an’s furious expression.
His face appeared slightly distorted in the lens, but no matter how it looked, it was utterly loathsome in her eyes.
"Shen Mianyin, don’t think staying silent will work," Gu Luo'an fumed angrily. "I really didn’t expect you to actually get involved with my third uncle!"
Shen Mianyin pressed her lips tightly into a thin line, her eyes reddened. It wasn’t from grievance—it was from sheer anger.
Gu Luo'an was outside spouting nonsense! Shen Mianyin had never seen him lose his composure like this before.
In the past, whenever they argued, it was always her who exploded with anger, while he would coldly turn and walk away, leaving her to regret and apologize later.
She had always thought Gu Luo'an was a composed and steady person, someone who wouldn't be rattled by anything.
But now, seeing him acting like a madman, he was nothing more than a scoundrel!
The neighbor across the hall, a stay-at-home mom, opened her door with a displeased expression and said,
"What are you yelling about? Keep disturbing the peace, and I’ll call the police!"
Her baby, who had just been coaxed to sleep by the nanny, was woken up again by the noise. The nanny was now trying to soothe the crying child in her arms.
"Mind your own business!" Gu Luo'an, already irritable, snapped.
With someone now meddling in his affairs, his frustration turned into outright anger.
The neighbor lady angrily retorted, "Who do you think you are? Do you have any sense of reason?"
"You're not even a resident here. How did you get in?" she demanded.
"I’m here to see my fiancée. What’s it to you?" Gu Luo'an snapped impatiently, continuing to pound on the door. "Shen Mianyin, come out!"
"Do you really want me to keep yelling out here?"
Shen Mianyin trembled with anger inside the door. How had she never realized that Gu Luo'an was nothing but a rogue?
The neighbor lady, equally furious, shouted back, "Hey, can you control your fiancé? Tell him to stop disturbing the peace! Does he have any manners?"
"If you want to argue, do it privately. Why are you causing a scene here?" the neighbor lady yelled.
Shen Mianyin’s face turned red with anger, and she felt the sting of the neighbor lady’s words.
Helpless, she could only support herself on the wall as she slowly made her way back to the living room.
Grabbing her phone, she immediately called the police. After hanging up, she took a deep breath and slowly made her way back to the door.
With a steadying breath, she finally opened the door.
The neighbor lady was still standing outside the door, seemingly waiting to see if they would continue arguing.
When she saw Shen Mianyin step out, Gu Luoan sneered, "Is pretending not to be home amusing to you?"
Shen Mianyin shot back, "We've already broken up. Do you still find it interesting to keep pestering me?"
"Gu Luo'an, I know you've always looked down on me, thought I wasn't good enough for you, and had all sorts of dislikes for me," Shen Mianyin said coldly.
"Now that I'm no longer the daughter of the Su family, I'm even less worthy of you. Breaking up with you should be exactly what you wanted, right? So why are you still pestering me? What does this mean?"
Gu Luo'an furrowed his brows. When did he ever say that he didn't like her? When did he ever say she wasn't good enough for him?
Gu Luo'an's furrowed brows suddenly relaxed. "So this is what you think."
"You shouldn't always overthink when you have nothing else to do."
In the past life, Shen Mianyin was just like this, constantly suspecting that Su Yiqing liked him, or that he liked Su Yiqing more.
He really didn’t understand. Su Yiqing had a pitiful background, and as Shen Mianyin's fiancé, it was only natural for him to take care of her more.
He told her not to overthink, but Shen Mianyin just wouldn't listen.
She always had to start an argument, and it truly wore him down.
However, it wasn't until he lost her, watching her being dragged away, that he realized just how much he regretted it.
How deeply he regretted not treating her well back then.
He hadn't expected that, in this life, Shen Mianyin would directly want to break up.
"Shen Mianyin, stop overthinking. I have nothing to do with Su Yiqing, and I won’t treat you any differently just because of which family you're from," Gu Luo'an said.
"Is this the reason why you specifically went to my uncle? To provoke me and force me to break up with you?"
Gu Luo'an let out a sigh and said, "Alright, stop making a fuss."
"I won't break up with you. It doesn’t matter what family you're from," he added, his tone carrying an element of coaxing. "Now you can relax, right?"
Shen Mianyin glanced at the time on her phone. She needed to calm Gu Luo'an down before the police arrived.
Otherwise, given her current state, if she got into an argument with him, there was no way she could win against him.
Shen Mianyin couldn't stand to look at Gu Luo'an any longer, so she simply lowered her head, hiding her eyes filled with disgust.
Seeing this, Gu Luo'an assumed she had calmed down and said, "Alright, let's stop making a scene. Let's go inside and talk."
"I’m serious, Gu Luo'an," Shen Mianyin sighed.
"What?" Gu Luoan didn't understand for a moment.
At that moment, the elevator doors opened, and two police officers stepped out.
"Who called the police?" one of them asked.
"I did!" Shen Mianyin breathed a sigh of relief as she saw the officers.
"This man has been blocking my door, banging on it loudly, and shouting. It's disturbing the neighbors and affecting their peaceful lives."
Gu Luo'an looked at Shen Mianyin in disbelief. "Shen Mianyin, what do you mean? You called the police?"
"I told you we're breaking up, but you wouldn't listen. You even followed me here. The building's entrance has a security code. I didn't let you in, so how did you get in?"
Shen Mianyin finally couldn't hold back anymore.
"You kept banging on my door, and when I didn't open, you kept making a scene, threatening me. The neighbor across the hall can testify."
The police turned to the neighbor lady, who had been standing by, watching the scene unfold. "Is that the case?"
"Ah, yes," the neighbor lady hesitated for a moment before nodding. "He was shouting really loudly, woke up my baby, and scared him into crying."
She continued, "At first, I thought they were just a young couple having a quarrel, but it seems that's not the case. The girl even called the police."
"Officer, I was just worried he might disturb the neighbors again, so I had no choice but to come out and try to handle it until you arrived,"
Shen Mianyin trembled, wrapping her arms around herself.
"I'm home alone, and he's outside shouting and threatening me. I was really terrified."
She looked down at her injured foot, her eyes reddening with grievance.
"And on top of that, my foot is hurt, I can't even run away."
She looked up at the police officer, her voice trembling, "Officer, I'm really scared."
The police officer reprimanded, "You can't just go to someone's door and threaten them just because the girl wants to break up, even if things don’t go well in a conversation!"
Gu Huaizhi glared at Shen Mianyin with fierce eyes. "Shen Mianyin, you’re really something!"
Shen Mianyin shrank back a little, pretending to be frightened.
"Officer, I’m not going to reconcile with him. If I do, as soon as you leave, he’ll turn around and hurt me."
