Everyone turned to see Lin Jinshen, his hand half-covering his mouth as he laughed quietly. When he saw everyone looking his way, he said, “I think Director Shen’s point makes sense. Director Shen, Gu Huaizhi doesn’t have much time to spare, so you should hurry.”
“Alright,” Shen Mianyin said, no longer bothering with Zhou Jicai, letting Gao Zhoulei support her as they left the conference room.
As they exited the company lobby, the driver was already waiting at the base of the stairs.
Gao Zhoulei helped Shen Mianyin into the car and asked, “Director Shen, should I go with you?”
“No need, you stay at the company to handle other things. Besides, bringing an assistant to a business meeting doesn’t look good.” It was fine with others, but better to keep a low profile in front of Gu Huaizhi.
The driver drove Shen Mianyin to Gu’s building and helped her out of the car, then asked, “Director Shen, do you need help getting inside?”
Shen Mianyin hesitated, then said, “No need.”
She limped into the building, figuring it might help if she played it up a bit.
Shen Mianyin limped into the elevator and rode it up to the top floor.
Gu Huaizhi’s assistant, Zhou Jingqi, quietly assessed, “Strong in spirit despite physical limitations.”
“President, the Jincheng Group’s Director Shen has arrived,” Zhou Jingqi knocked on the door to Gu Huaizhi’s office.
Glancing over Zhou Jingqi’s shoulder, Shen Mianyin saw Gu Huaizhi was on the phone. He gave Zhou Jingqi a nod, indicating he should let her in.
“Director Shen, please come in,” Zhou Jingqi moved aside, clearing the way for Shen Mianyin.
Shen Mianyin limped a little more heavily, hoping Gu Huaizhi would notice her better that way.
Zhou Jingqi: “….”
Just a moment ago, her limp wasn’t this severe.
Zhou Jingqi closed the door, and as Shen Mianyin walked, she heard Gu Huaizhi finish a call with, “Got it.”
Hanging up the phone, Gu Huaizhi looked at Shen Mianyin’s gait and then said, “Miss Shen, your injury looks quite serious. We can always reschedule.”
Shen Mianyin sat down, speaking softly but resolutely, “I finally managed to get an appointment with President Gu. Even if I have to crawl here, I can’t just let this chance pass for another day.”
Gu Huaizhi: “…This isn’t necessary.”
This girl said she didn’t like him, right?
So why is she flirting as soon as she opens her mouth?
Shen Mianyin looked innocent, just trying to be polite—she hadn’t expected Gu Huaizhi to completely misunderstand.
“President Gu, your time is precious, so let me get straight to the point,” Shen Mianyin laid her plan out on the table in front of Gu Huaizhi. “We at Jincheng want to secure the agency rights for Covey’s products in China.”
Gu Huai stopped for a moment, then suddenly let out a small laugh: "It seems that Director Shen has done her research quite thoroughly."
"It wasn't an intentional investigation into Mr. Gu," Shen Mianyin explained. "I’ve been comparing foreign medical equipment brands and did some homework. Covey is the brand I want to secure the most, so I looked into it carefully and accidentally discovered that Mr. Gu is actually a major shareholder of Covey."
"That’s why I wanted to approach you, Mr. Gu, to secure the agency rights for Covey," Shen Mianyin continued. "This is my proposal."
Shen Mianyin saw that Gu Huai didn’t stop her, so she quickly explained the detailed plan: "I hope Mr. Gu can consider us."
"The market in Huaguo is huge, and Covey definitely doesn't want to give up such a large market. Jincheng has always been a leader in this field," Shen Mianyin said. "I can guarantee that as long as we secure the agency rights for Covey, we can make Covey's products replace at least 50% of the existing products on the market."
Gu Huai really didn’t expect that Shen Mianyin wasn’t here for the Gu family today, but was actually here for Covey.
If it were for the Gu family, Shen Mianyin would definitely fail.
But for Covey, she truly might succeed.
Moreover, Shen Mianyin’s proposal was indeed well-prepared.
"I understand. I’ll take a closer look at the proposal, and I’ll also send it to Covey," Gu Huai said.
Hearing Gu Huai's words, Shen Mianyin’s eyes lit up with joy.
She hadn't expected things to go so smoothly today.
With Gu Huai's words, she had already succeeded halfway, and the rest would just be some discussions on the details of the proposal between both parties.
At that moment, Zhou Jingqi knocked on the door and came in to remind, "Mr. Gu, it's time to leave."
Shen Mianyin quickly stood up, "Then I won't disturb you any longer."
As Shen Mianyin was heading out, she saw that Gu Huai was following her as well.
Afraid of wasting Gu Huai’s time, Shen Mianyin couldn’t help but quicken her pace. However, as soon as her injured foot hit the ground, the pain made her instinctively crouch down.
In a panic, Shen Mianyin reached out for support, but to her left was Gu Huai. She didn’t want him to misunderstand again, so she staggered toward Zhou Jingqi on her right.
Zhou Jingqi was just about to steady her, his hand nearly touching her arm. However, to everyone’s surprise, Gu Huai reached out, extending his arm from behind Shen Mianyin and firmly supported her right arm, pulling her close.
Shen Mianyin: "???"
No, she really didn’t want Gu Huai to help her.
Zhou Jingqi blinked. Was this still the same Gu Huai who wouldn’t let anyone touch the hem of his clothes?
Shen Mianyin’s face turned red with embarrassment as she said awkwardly, "Thank you, Mr. Gu."
Just as she was about to straighten up and walk on her own, Gu Huai’s hand firmly stayed on her arm, and a deep, steady voice came from above her head: "My apologies."
Gu Huai withdrew the hand that had circled around her from behind and instead gently rested his hand on Shen Mianyin's left arm.
This clearly meant he was going to support her.
Shen Mianyin looked up at Gu Huai in shock. He was so serious, so she naturally didn’t think that him pulling her into his arms just now was an attempt to take advantage.
After all, he was someone who was known for being indifferent and formal.
Shen Mianyin actually would have preferred Zhou Jingqi to help her, at least the pressure wouldn’t be as overwhelming.
She stiffened her way into the elevator, supported by Gu Huai. Thankfully, the elevator was private for him, so they didn’t encounter anyone from the Gu family along the way.
Once they exited the elevator, Gu Huai finally said, "Have someone from the front desk come to assist Director Shen."
"Understood." Zhou Jingqi hurried off to call someone.
Before long, he returned with a female colleague.
When the female colleague saw Gu Huai, she nervously greeted him, "Good morning, President," before quickly moving to help Shen Mianyin.
Shen Mianyin could feel that the female employee was almost trembling as she walked.
Finally, Shen Mianyin was helped into the car.
After expressing her thanks, Shen Mianyin let out a sigh of relief.
The driver had just driven a short distance when, suddenly, a Porsche sped past from the side.
As it quickly overtook her car, the Porsche suddenly swerved and cut right in front of her vehicle.
The driver had no choice but to sharply turn the steering wheel and slam on the brakes to avoid the collision.
However, to their surprise, the Porsche suddenly reversed.
Bang!
Shen Mianyin’s car crashed hard into the back of the Porsche.
"This person must be crazy!" the driver cursed loudly.
Immediately after, Shen Mianyin saw Gu Luo'an step out of the Porsche with a serious expression, walking towards her car.
Shen Mianyin rolled down the car window and said in a deep voice, "Gu Luo'an, what’s your problem!"
"Get out of the car," Gu Luo'an said, his face cold.
"Crazy," Shen Mianyin muttered, raising the car window. But to her surprise, Gu Luo'an actually reached his hand inside.
As the window slowly inched closer to his arm, he showed no sign of pulling it back.
